Fractal Design Define R4 Cases, Titanium grey (FD-CA-DEF-R4-TI) - Best Price
A stellar case for almost any purpose
This is a large, heavy, well-built, attractive enclosure that's suited to almost every kind of build. It has space for something like seven fans. The interior room is on the high side of the mid-ATX standard with plenty of clearance for large tower heatsinks and multiple graphics cards. There are eight 3.5" hard disk slots. All of this is ideal for a power build, but also superlative for silent PCs. The case panels are very heavy and dampened with a cloth material. Most of the fan ports can be sealed if unused, and the enclosure is so solid that spinning 3.5" disks cause very little resonance.
The latter point is my interest. I'm all about silent computing. My go-to cases have been Antec's Solo and Sonata line. The former is similarly well-built, but cramped and far more difficult to build inside than this Fractal. The Solo II doesn't appear much of an improvement, so this is my new preferred enclosure.
