Great drive, wish it came with Mac software
I bought this drive for my new MacBook Pro with USB 3.0, and for that it works great. It gets enough power for both DVD and Blu-Ray disks from one USB 3.0 port and Apple's DVD Player worked for playing DVDs immediately. VLC Player worked great for the one Blu-Ray disk I've played so far (google around to find out how to get it to work with Blu-Ray, it's easy but know you won't get the Blu-Ray main menu with VLC, just access to all the content... some other option for Blu-Ray might be more complete) but there were occasional pauses during playback while the disk spun up and back down.
My main complaint is that while there's disc-burning software for Windows, no such software was included for Macs. Instead we are encouraged by LaCie to purchase software elsewhere. This is disappointing.
So the pauses, plus the lack of Mac software, leads to the loss of one star. It is a great drive otherwise, and being able to be powered from one USB 3.0 port is *fantastic*.
